All boat designs are a compromise. Each design feature enables or limits other design features which in turn affects the overall character of the boat. Having said that, I will give you some of the boat's specifications and design features which will help define the performance and personality of our boat. With over 1000 bronze screws and West System epoxy holding the 7/8" x 1 & 1/4" mahogany strip deck together, you essentially have a strong laminated bent frame for a beautiful front deck. To continue on with our discussion, the important points to remember so far we have a strong heavy wide boat.
In the picture on the left, you will notice that the first 32" of the bottom is flat and angles slightly down. This design feature makes the boat solid and stable when beached. From that point aft the bottom develops a 4 degree deadrise V, this design feature gives the boat a softer ride and better directional tracking. In the picture on the right you will notice there are 2 center speed strakes and 2 reverse chine speed strakes, these speed strakes when in motion help give a drier ride and improve the boats tracking, while at rest along with the boats wide beam make her incredibly stable. She hardly moves at anchor with a 300 lb man walking around inside or sitting on the gunwales. The last design features I would like to bring to your attention are in the picture on the right, please notice the large amount of bow flare for a drier ride and how the chine quickly widens from the bow which gives a generous amount of floor space up forward in the boat.
In conclusion, we have a very stable, roomy, comfortable boat to spend the day in designed for sheltered waters but built strong and heavy to get you home safely if you get caught in some bad weather and rough seas.
